UAC Theatre Program options for ages 8-14

THEATRE Training Program

The vision of the UAC Theatre Training Program is to develop a well-rounded youth theatre experience that nurtures focused and passionate students. Through dedicated technique and training, students will have the opportunity to grow their talent, work with industry professionals, build confidence, and create lasting memories.

  • Ages: 8–14 years old

  • Requirements: Attend the Fall Theatre Camp, August 6-7, 2025 and/or receive a training invitation.
    2 days/week of theatre classes (voice, acting, musical theater dance and specialty classes)

  • Rehearsals: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:45 - 8:15 p.m.

  • Two Performances: Winter One-Acts Production-December 2025 and Year-end Junior Production-April 2026

  • All-inclusive 8-month tuition: $135/month (Includes: 3-hours of technique classes, rehearsals, costume rentals, production fees, professional headshot, resume and cast t-shirt)

  • Tuition does not include: Class attire, tap shoes, performance shoes and tights, complimentary tickets and $50 registration fee per family.

Theatre classes begin TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2025

CURRICULUM:

  • Theatre
    Students will explore a variety of theatre styles through warm-ups, improvisation, pantomime, and storytelling. The class focuses on developing skills in projection, stage direction, character development, and overall stage presence.

  • Voice
    Students will develop strong vocal foundations through warm-ups, breath control, and vocal technique. The class includes training in vocal styles, singing in harmony, and understanding vocal tone, performance quality, and stage presence.

  • Dance
    This class emphasizes foundational dance technique, teaching the essential building blocks that lead to strong posture, clean lines, and expressive movement. Students will develop confidence and control through the basics, with focused training in jazz and musical theatre dance styles.

  • Tap Technique
    This class helps students strengthen their musicality, rhythm, and coordination. Emphasis is also placed on classroom etiquette, professionalism, and working cohesively as a group.

  • Specialty Classes
    These sessions offer valuable behind-the-scenes training in theatre etiquette, stage makeup, audition technique, song selection, costume care, prop handling, and effective rehearsal and backstage strategies.

The vision of the UAC Theatre Production Training Program is to give students, ages 10–14, the opportunity to be fully immersed in the process of bringing a production to life. Students will train in technique tailored to their character roles while developing stage presence, teamwork, and performance skills.

Beyond the stage, they will build confidence, create lasting friendships, and become part of a supportive theatre family—all through the power of the performing arts.

The program runs January through April.
Students must audition and be cast in the spring production to be accepted into the program.

  • Requirements: 2 days/week of theatre classes (voice, theatre, movement and specialty classes)

  • Rehearsals: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:45 - 8:15 p.m.

  • Performance: April 2026

  • All-inclusive 4-month tuition: $140/month (January-April)
    Includes: Training classes per week, rehearsals, costume rentals, production fees, professional headshot and cast t-shirt

  • Sibling discounts and partial scholarships available: For more information, email theatre@utartscollective.com

  • All-inclusive tuition does not include: Class attire, performance shoes and tights (if needed), admission fees for friends and family to attend the year-end production

JANUARY 2026 - APRIL 2026

Auditions: January 3rd - 1:00-5:00 p.m.

  • Voice: Warm-up, sing in harmony, understanding your voice and performance quality.

  • Dance: Warm-up, posture, understanding line and expression. Dance styles taught include jazz, tap and musical theatre.

  • Theatre: Warm-up, styling, musical focus, projection, stage direction and story-telling.

  • Specialty: Theatre etiquette, stage make-up, costume care, props, backstage and rehearsal for the year-end production.

Featured Dancer Program

The vision of the UAC Theatre Featured Dancer Program is to give students the opportunity to express themselves through dance while being part of a full theatre production. In addition to showcasing their dance abilities, students will explore the world of musical theatre and continue developing their singing and acting skills.

This unique experience allows students to grow as performers, build confidence, and create lasting memories and friendships through the theatre arts.

Ages 12–15, enrolled in UAC Dance Program Levels 5–6
The program runs January through April.
Students must audition and be cast in the spring production to be accepted into the program.

  • Requirements: 1 day/week of theatre rehearsal classes (voice, theatre and movement classes)

  • Rehearsals: TBD

  • Performance: April 2026

  • All-inclusive 4-month tuition: $45/month (Jan-April)
    Includes: Rehearsals, costume rentals, production fees, professional headshot and cast t-shirt

  • All-inclusive tuition does not include: Class attire, performance shoes and tights (if needed), admission fees for friends and family to the year-end production

At Utah Arts Collective (UAC), our Youth Theatre Program offers a comprehensive performing arts experience for students aged 8 to 14.
